With over two decades of teaching experience, Wayne Grimes is passionate about shaping young minds and helping them reach their God-given potential.
Early in Wayne’s college career, he made an observation. There was a need for more Black men in early childhood education and the rest is history. He received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Armstrong Atlantic State University.
Grimes then served the students and teachers of Chatham County for over a decade before transitioning to Savannah Electric as a Senior Education Services Representative. Prior to joining Georgia Power, Wayne was a Georgia Power Region Energy Services Representative.
Currently, Mr. G is a Learning Power Education Supervisor and Coordinator who brings his enthusiasm and engaging energy to every lesson.
Wayne Grimes understands that students learn things at different times and rates. “I’m here to assist in connecting the dots by providing relevance or bring real-life situations into the school lessons,” says Grimes
When Wayne isn’t in the classroom he’s operating his huge model railroad layout. He’s more than a collector, he’s an operator. It’s a hobby that allows him to put his engineering and electrical wiring training and skills in practice. He’s five years into the construction of the layout.
You may be surprised to know he can still hoop. That’s right! He’ll shoot your lights out on the basketball court like he’s still in high school.
Grimes is the Learning Power Education Coordinator for Georgia Power’s Coastal Region North. He serves Bryan County, Chatham County, and Liberty County.
In addition to his bachelor's degree, he received his Master of Public Administration in Human Resources and Public Policy from Savannah State University.
Wayne Grimes and his wife of 30+ years, Lashone are both educators and have three daughters. They currently reside in Savannah, GA where they co-pastor Maranatha Church International.
