Lorelle Carey

Coordinator

Meet Lorelle Carey. A native of Montego Bay, Jamaica who moved to the U.S. at age nine, she loves all things Caribbean – azure waters, colorful carnivals, Jerk flavors and more.

Most recently, Lorelle worked as recruiter and admissions counselor at Georgia Southwestern State University. She loves talking with high school students about postsecondary options and career paths. Lorelle explains, “I understand the framework of student’s mind. Helping them think ahead about their future potential is exciting for me.”

As she delivers hands-on STEM and energy efficiency lessons, Lorelle is eager to help students thrive and grow – and build authentic connections with young people. “Many students have shared their uncertainty and concern over not knowing what they want to do with their lives. I love serving as a guiding light, with the assurance that I am here to help them navigate the unknown and find their purpose and passion.”

She looks forward to working with educators and students in the west region of Georgia, in the counties of Chattahoochee, Crisp, Dooly, Harris, Lamar, Macon, Marion, Meriweather, Muscogee, Pike, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor, Troup, Upson, and Webster.

An active community volunteer, Lorelle supports back-to-school outreach programs and has been a TEDx speaker at her alma mater Georgia Southwestern, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

Lorelle loves creative writing and music. In her free time, you’ll find her cooking for her friends, visiting beaches, and trying new restaurants.

Expect excellence and high energy when Lorelle joins your classroom. Her grandmother’s words of inspiration continue to guide Lorelle today. She would say, “Lorelle, If you do anything, do it with excellence and to the best of your ability.”
