Donna Mickens loves to see a student’s face light up when they discover something new. “My biggest joy is helping individuals develop!”
With a diverse background in training, sales and operations, Donna brings a broad perspective to students as they explore Learning Power's STEM-based lessons. She most recently worked for Southern Nuclear, at Plant Vogtle in Waynesboro, Georgia, managing training in records processing and providing governance and oversight to teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Donna weaves real-life applications into lessons, ensuring that students make a connection to the topic. Inspired by quote people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care, Donna believes listening and patience are key to making an impact. “Once students know your intention and see how much you care about their learning, you have a greater chance of making a difference.”
She is a longtime mentor, sharing life lessons and building relationships with college students and co-workers. An active community volunteer, Donna supports her church, local food bank, Boys & Girls Clubs, and Junior Achievement.
Donna earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and master’s degree in adult education and training from the University of Phoenix. She also completed the University of Georgia’s Instructional Design and eLearning certificate program.
A resident of the Augusta area, Donna delivers Learning Power lessons to the counties of Burke, Columbia, Glascock, Jefferson, Jenkins, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, Taliaferro, Warren, and Wilkes. In her spare time, she recharges through creative activities – planning and decorating for special events, sewing, home décor projects, and painting.
