For over 30 years, Bill Glisson has made a career of serving others in various roles within Georgia Power. His role as Learning Power Education Supervisor and Coordinator gives him the opportunity to not only do that but also continue to coach and mentor young people.
When you invite him into your classroom, your students will know Mr. Bill cares for them.
“You can learn about kids if you just watch and listen to them. I’m impromptu when it comes to my classroom approach. I base it on the class; on an individual basis. I roll with the flow of the teacher and students. I’m not what you would call a worksheet teacher. I’m hands-on, animated, and engaging. We’re gonna have fun and learn together,” says Mr. Bill.
Bill fosters a sense of collaboration by encouraging teamwork and modeling. Sometimes he’ll even join the group. It’s coaching in an academic setting. Glisson believes in encouraging everyone, teachers and students alike, to participate and get involved.
“It’s not about getting the right answers but it’s about the process. We need each other,” says Glisson.
Bill graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation with a minor in Business.
Bill Glisson serves the following counties and city schools: Bleckley, Dodge, Dublin City Schools, Jeff Davis, Johnson, Laurens, Montgomery, Pulaski, Telfair, Toombs, Treutlen, Vidalia City Schools, Washington, Wheeler, Wilkinson, and Wilcox.
Bill has been married to his college sweetheart whom he calls his ‘Guiding Light’, Betsy, for over 30 years. They have two children. They recently welcomed their first grandchild, Phoebe, who’s named after her great-grandmother and Bill’s mother who passed in February 2020 after a long battle with dementia.
When he’s not coaching a national competitive shooting team, he’s binge-watching a historical fiction or nonfiction series on Netflix or the History Channel.
